Achieving a majority in the Rajya Sabha, a goal the NDA has pursued for a decade will simplify the passage of contentious bills. In the past, the large Opposition presence frequently obstructed government bills in the upper house, with some only passing due to support from non-aligned parties like Naveen Patnaik's Biju Janata Dal and YS Jaganmohan Reddy's YSR Congress.
