A man was arrested in Telangana’s Medchal-Malkajgiri district for allegedly killing a woman over a missing phone charger. Police said the accused, identified as Ravula Kamal Kumar (37), murdered a woman named Shanthi in Dundigal after visiting her residence and accusing her of stealing his mobile phone charger.
Police said the dispute over the missing charger had begun three days earlier, on August 21, and had escalated into physical violence when Kumar returned to confront her again. In a fit of rage, he shoved Shanthi, causing her to fall and sustain a head injury. As she suffered and attempted to call for help, Kumar allegedly gagged her mouth and nose, leading to her death.
Kumar fled the scene but was later captured in Gagillapur village within the Quthbullapur Mandal. His movements were recorded on CCTV, which assisted in tracking him down. After his arrest, Kumar was produced before a court and placed under judicial remand. The investigation is ongoing.
Deputy Commissioner of Police for Medchal zone, N Koti Reddy stated that the incident occurred on August 24 after the accused had an argument with the victim. He stated that the accused attacked the woman, covering her mouth to muffle her cries and then suffocated her to death, reported TOI.
Police have registered a case and further investigation is underway.
