Telangana Politics: A massive political row erupted after Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy claimed that there is a difference in the religious identities between the northern and southern states. While speaking at a media event in Hyderabad, Reddy has claimed that while the north Indians worship Lord Ram, the people of South India worship Lord Shiva. While reacting to his remarks, the BJP leaders alleged that Reddy was trying to divide the nation based on religious identity.

'Ram Is God Of Rich People'

Earlier on Monday, Reddy questioned why the BJP leaders do not chant 'Har Har Mahadev' with the same intensity they chant 'Jai Shree Ram'. "We are Dravidians; they are Aryans. We are devotees of Lord Shiva, while they are devotees of Lord Ram," the chief minister said. What further triggered the row was his claim that while Shiva is the god of poors, Lord Ram represented the rich.

Union Minister Slams CM Reddy

Union Minister and BJP leader Bandi Sanjay Kumar, while reacting to his remarks, alleged that the chief minister was trying to draw political boundaries between the two gods. Kumar further alleged that Reddy lacked the knowledge and targeted him for doing the alleged divisive politics.

"Revanth Reddy who earlier said Muslim is 'Congress, Congress is Muslim' is now drawing political boundaries between Lord Ram and Lord Shiva. Being the chief minister of Telangana that has Dakshina Kashi at Vemulawada and Dakshina Ayodhya at Bhadrachalam, Reddy should know better than to divide Lord Ram and Lord Shiva into north and south," Kumar said in a post on X.

Reddy Questions Delimitation Bill

Earlier in the event, Reddy had also raised concerns over the delimitation bill, claiming that the southern states were paying the price for controlling their population. While demanding more political representation for the southern states, Reddy stated that the delimitation exercise will snatch the rights of its people.
