NEET Candidate Suicide: A 19-year-old National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) applicant allegedly died by suicide in Jodhpur and wrote a "sorry note" requesting forgiveness. According to the police, Rohit Bhati's body was discovered hanging in the hostel, along with a suicide note that read "Sorry, forgive me Chinnu".

The authorities are looking to find out who he apologised to in the suicide letter.

Bhati, originally from Ras in Beawar, moved to Jodhpur a year ago and now lives in the 'Diksha Classes' hostel in Chaupasni Housing Board, Sector-17.

The hostel owner was the first to see him hanging and contacted the police.

After hearing the tragic news, Rohit's father, Mohanlal Mali, and other family members traveled to Jodhpur.

Following the post-mortem at AIIMS, the police handed over the body to the family.

On the other hand, preparations are underway to extract Bhati's call detail records. Police think that by tracing the phone's conversations, they will be able to determine the cause of his suicide.

On Monday, the Rajasthan Assembly had a lengthy discussion on the Rajasthan Coaching Centres (Control & Regulation) Bill, 2025, which also addressed student mental health and suicides.

The Bill was introduced in the House on March 19 in response to suicides that have occurred mostly in Kota, a hub of coaching centres offering courses for admission to prominent medical and engineering universities around the country.

According to the Bill, Rajasthan has lifted the 16-year age restriction for students enrolling in coaching institutes, which differs from the Centre's norms.
