NEET-PG Postponed: The NEET-PG 2024 exam, earlier scheduled to be held tomorrow, has been postponed by the Health Ministry. New dates for the postgraduate exam will be announced soon, the ministry said on Saturday night. While announcing the postponement of the exam, the Health Ministry cited the questions on the "integrity of NEET-UG and UGC-NET exams" conducted recently. NEET PG Postponement came hours after the central government removed the director general of NTA from the post.
Health Ministry further said that it will undertake a "thorough assessment of the robustness of processes of the NEET-PG Entrance Examination" conducted by the National Board of Examination for Medical Students.
"Taking into consideration, the recent incidents of allegations regarding the integrity of certain competitive examinations, the Ministry of Health has decided to undertake a thorough assessment of the robustness of processes of NEET-PG Entrance Examination, conducted by National Board of Examination for medical students. It has accordingly been decided, as a precautionary measure to postpone the NEET-PG Entrance Examination, scheduled to be held tomorrow i.e. 23rd June, 2024. Fresh date of this examination will be notified at the earliest," the ministry said in a release.
Ministry of Health sincerely regrets the inconvenience caused to the students. This decision has been taken in the best interests of the students and to maintain the sanctity of the examination process, the release further stated.
NEET PG Postponed Hours After NTA DG Removed
The latest development came moments after the central government removed the National Testing Agency Director General from the post amid the paper leaks and subsequent protests in the country. Subodh Kumar Singh, the outgoing NTA DG has been put on the compulsory wait list in the Department of Personnel and Training by the centre.
A retired officer Pradeep Singh Kharola has been given additional charge of the post of Director General, National Testing Agency (NTA) by the ministry in a reshuffling announced late on Saturday night.
High-Level Committee To Recommend Measures To Ensure Fair Examination
Earlier today, the Ministry of Education formed a 'High-Level Committee of Experts' to ensure transparent, smooth and fair conduct of competitive examinations in the country. This expert panel will recommend measures to reform the mechanism of the examination process in the country.
A comprehensive review of the Data Security protocols and structure and functioning of NTA will also be undertaken by this committee, which will submit its report to the Ministry within 2 months, a release by the Ministry of Education stated.
