NEET-UG 2024 Row: The Supreme Court is slated to pronounce on Friday the detailed reasons for its judgment wherein it declined to cancel the controversy-laden NEET-UG 2024, as per a cause list published on the top court's website. The detailed judgment will be pronounced by a three-judge bench led by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud.

On July 23, while taking into consideration the data analytics undertaken by IIT Madras and other statistics placed on record, the apex court had refused to order the re-conduct of the medical entrance examination. The court said there was no material on record to suggest that the exam's sanctity was breached in a systematic manner.

The bench, also comprising Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, said it was mindful of the fact that directing a fresh exam would be replete with serious consequences for over 20 lakh candidates who had appeared for the exam held on May 5 this year. The Supreme Court also clarified that its judgment won't prevent authorities from taking action against candidates who had secured admission using malpractices.
