NEET SC Hearing: The Supreme Court on Tuesday issued notice to the National Testing Agency (NTA) on a petition seeking a fresh examination on the grounds of alleged question paper leak and other malpractices. The top court said the sanctity of the exam seems to have been affected so it needs an answer from NTA. A vacation bench comprising Justices Vikram Nath and Ahsanuddin Amanullah posted the matter on July 8.

Following the reports about the alleged question paper leak surrounding the NEET-UG 2024 examination held on May 5, a group of candidates have moved to the top court seeking fresh examinations. The NEET-UG, conducted by the NTA, serves as a crucial gateway for admissions into MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other allied courses in both government and private institutions across the country. The results are expected to be declared on June 14.

The plea was filed on June 1 by Shivangi Mishra and others. The plea has made the NTA a party and raised the issue of paper leak and the sanctity of the test while seeking a direction for conducting the fresh examination.

The plea alleged that the NEET-UG test held on May 5 was compromised with malpractices as various instances of paper leaks came to the knowledge of the petitioners. They argue that this alleged leak violates Article 14 of the Constitution, which guarantees the right to equality, as it unfairly advantages some candidates over others who took the test honestly.
