Nepal Gen Z protests: IndiGo Airlines has suspended all flights to and from Kathmandu until September 10 due to ongoing Gen Z protests in Nepal. The airline has also announced waivers on rescheduling and cancellations for affected passengers.IndiGo Airlines has issued a travel advisory announcing the suspension of all flights to and from Kathmandu until 12:00 p.m. on September 10, citing the closure of Kathmandu Airport due to the ongoing Gen Z protests.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) dated September 9 at 10:25 pm, the airline wrote, "All flights to and from Kathmandu stand cancelled until 1200 hrs on September 10. If your travel plans are impacted, you may opt for an alternate flight or claim a refund through our website," the airline said in its statement.

As part of its relief measures, IndiGo has extended waivers on rescheduling and cancellations for passengers travelling to and from Kathmandu until September 12. The waiver is applicable to bookings made on or before September 9.
"If your travel plans are impacted, you may opt for an alternate flight or claim a refund through our website. As an immediate relief measure, we are extending waivers on rescheduling and cancellations for travel to and from Kathmandu until September 12, applicable for bookings made on or before September 9," the statement further said.
The airline also assured passengers that its teams are monitoring the situation closely and will provide timely updates.
"Our teams remain on standby, closely monitoring developments around the clock, and will continue to share timely updates as soon as operations are cleared to resume. We truly appreciate your patience and understanding. Your safety and peace of mind remain our top priority," it added.
Meanwhile, the Indian government convened a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security to discuss the situation in Nepal following rising unrest and protests in Kathmandu.

What Is Happening In Nepal?
The protests, led by youth groups under the Gen Z movement, have escalated dramatically in recent days. The demonstrations, which erupted in response to alleged government corruption and a controversial social media ban, have resulted in widespread violence.
On Monday alone, at least 19 protesters were killed and around 500 were injured during clashes with police near the Federal Parliament and other parts of Kathmandu, according to The Himalayan Times. Several government buildings, including the parliament, were reportedly set on fire by demonstrators.
Nepalese Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has resigned amid the intensifying unrest, as the government struggles to contain the protests sweeping across the capital and nearby towns.
MEA Urges Indians To Defer Travel To Nepal
In response to the deteriorating security situation, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) issued a travel advisory on Wednesday for Indian citizens currently in or planning to travel to Nepal.
