Heavy passenger congestion was reported at the New Delhi Railway Station on Sunday due to the delay of several major trains. According to Delhi Police, the situation is now under control, and no injuries have been reported.

The delays affected key trains, including the Shiv Ganga Express, Swatantrata Senani Express, Jammu Rajdhani Express, Lucknow Mail, and Magadh Express, leading to a significant rush on platforms 12 and 13. The cumulative effect of these delays caused overcrowding, prompting authorities to take immediate crowd control measures to prevent any untoward incidents.

"There was an extra rush at the New Delhi Railway Station due to the delay of a few trains. Now, some trains have departed, and the situation is under control," Delhi Police confirmed in a statement.

Passengers were seen scaling barricades and attempting to bypass queues amid the heavy crowd. However, railway officials clarified that despite the congestion, there was no stampede or stampede-like situation.

"Senior officials, including the Senior Commandant of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Station Director, are present at the station to manage the crowd effectively," a senior railway official stated.

To ease the situation, unreserved passengers were guided through designated holding areas as part of the railway's crowd management protocol.

The congestion at the station mirrored past crowd control challenges witnessed during large-scale events like the Mahakumbh Mela.

Delhi Police and railway authorities are continuing to monitor the situation closely to ensure passenger safety and smooth operations. As several delayed trains have now departed, the situation remains under control, officials confirmed.
