State Bureau, Kolkata: Female candidates appearing for the Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) examination in West Bengal's Howrah district have alleged that female bouncers from a private agency subjected them to strip searches under the pretext of preventing cheating.

Female Candidates Forced To Strip And Filmed
The incident occurred during the examinations held between September 8 and 12 at Government Girls High School in Sankrail, Howrah.
Candidates alleged that security personnel forced them to remove their clothes, including underwear, and touched their private parts. One female candidate stated that when she protested the search process, security personnel forcibly removed her undergarments and recorded a video of the incident. Candidates further alleged that their objections were ignored by venue authorities.
Male Candidates Allege Strip-Searching At Exam Centre
Male candidates appearing for the same examination have also come forward with similar complaints. According to one examinee, male candidates were forced to remove their shirts and trousers before entering the examination hall.
These allegations have raised serious concerns over the deployment of private security bouncers to conduct such searches on government school premises.
Probe Launched
After repeated complaints were ignored at the venue, candidates filed a written complaint at the Sankrail police station on Friday. Senior officers from the Howrah City Police subsequently visited the school premises and spoke with the candidates and school administration.
Dilip Kumar Saha, Chairman of the District Primary Education Board and District Primary School Inspector, stated that the district primary education department has also launched an investigation into the matter.
