Rajasthan: A senior teacher at a government school in Rajasthan's Sawai Madhopur district has been suspended following allegations that she forced female students to strip to search for a missing sum of Rs 500.

Teacher Locked Female Students, Forced Them To Strip

According to news agency ANI, the incident took place at Government Senior Secondary School in Liwali village, Bamanwas, after Saraswati Meena, a Senior Hindi Teacher, discovered that Rs 500 was missing from her belongings. When an initial search failed to recover the money, Meena allegedly suspected the students of theft.

Meena, along with an associate, locked the female students from Class 9 and 11 inside a room, forcing them to strip under the pretext of an 'investigation' to recover the cash.

As the news of the incident spread, several parents gathered at the school premises and created a commotion, prompting senior administrative and education department officials to rush to the scene and initiate disciplinary action against the teacher.

Teacher Suspended With Immediate Effect

Following a preliminary report by the District Education Officer, Meena was suspended with immediate effect.

The suspension order, issued by the Office of the Joint Director of School Education (Bharatpur Division), stated that the action was taken under Rule 13 of the Rajasthan Civil Services (Classification, Control, and Appeal) Rules, 1958, following 'serious complaints' against her.

"Based on the report submitted by the District Education Officer, Secondary, Sawai Madhopur, on July 15, 2026, regarding serious complaints received against Saraswati Meena, she is hereby suspended with immediate effect," the order read.

During the suspension period, Meena's headquarters will be at the Block Education Office in Rajakhera, Dholpur, and she will be entitled to subsistence allowance.

The department has also initiated a formal investigation into the matter.
