- Bengaluru techies kidnapped over alleged rape complaint revenge.
- Rescued within six hours; 11 suspects arrested.
- Victims later arrested on separate rape allegations.
In an alleged bid to seek revenge over a rape complaint, a group of people kidnapped two 23-year-old software engineers in Bengaluru and planned to demand ransom from the father of one of them, police said. The two men were rescued within six hours of a kidnapping complaint being registered, but the case took another turn when one of the men was accused of rape, and both were arrested in connection with the allegation.
Police have arrested 11 people, including a 21-year-old woman, for their alleged involvement in the kidnapping. Investigators suspect the abduction was planned after the woman accused B Mahendra of sexually assaulting her. The allegations of kidnapping and rape are being investigated separately.
How The Bengaluru Kidnapping Unfolded
According to police, as cited by News18, Mahendra and his roommate, Yerryboina Tarun, both software professionals from Andhra Pradesh, were allegedly kidnapped between 2:50 am and 6 am on October 28. The two were living in Bengaluru’s Marathahalli area.

Mahendra’s father, B Ramana, a resident of Madanapalle in Andhra Pradesh, approached the Marathahalli police after his son and Tarun went missing. He alleged that the two had been kidnapped.
Following the complaint, police launched an investigation and examined CCTV footage from the surrounding areas. Technical evidence helped investigators trace the suspects and locate the two men within six hours of the complaint being registered.
During questioning, the accused allegedly admitted to conspiring to kidnap the two techies to extort money, police said. The group allegedly planned to use Mahendra’s father to demand ransom for their release.
Alleged Rape Complaint Behind Revenge Bid
During the investigation, police uncovered a separate allegation involving Mahendra and the woman arrested in the kidnapping case.
According to police, the 21-year-old woman alleged that Mahendra raped her at the house where he lived with Tarun between 1:30 am and 4 am on October 24. She also alleged that Tarun confined her in a room during the incident.
The woman reportedly informed her friends about the alleged assault. Investigators suspect that she and her associates subsequently planned to abduct Mahendra and Tarun in retaliation, with the intention of demanding money from Mahendra’s father.
Police have not established the allegations in court, and the circumstances surrounding both incidents remain under investigation.
Two Techies Arrested After Rescue
After the woman's complaint, Marathahalli police also registered a rape case and arrested Mahendra and Tarun in the case after questioning them, police said. The allegations of the woman against the two men are being investigated separately from the kidnapping case.
The other 11 suspects were also taken into custody in relation to the kidnapping and ransom plot. The police are trying to piece together the chain of events, the alleged motive to kidnap and their individual roles.
