Security Beefed Up In Delhi
Security arrangements have been beefed up in Delhi in view of the CJP's planned protest at Jantar Mantar on October 10. The party is protesting over alleged discrepancies in the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
An additional 11,000 personnel from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) are being deployed, bringing the total number of central force personnel in the city to nearly 26,000, marking one of the largest security deployments in Delhi since the 2020 northeast Delhi riots.
The security build-up comes as opposition parties and civil society groups have widened protests over the demand for Kumar's resignation.
The All India Students' Association (AISA), Left parties and several civil society groups began their protests on October 2, while the Congress and parliamentarians from opposition parties have been demonstrating at different locations across the national capital over the past two days.
No Permission Granted For Jantar Mantar Protest
Meanwhile, the Delhi Police have said that no permission has been granted for any protest at Jantar Mantar and urged people to avoid participating in any unauthorised gathering, news agency PTI reported.
