At least two people were killed while five others were injured after a fire broke out in a two-story house in Uttar Pradesh's Fatehpur, causing two gas cylinders to explode. The explosion caused the roof of the two-story house to collapse.
According to the information, two cooking gas cylinders caught fire at the home of Suresh Gupta, a fruit seller, in Malwan town on Monday evening. The incident sparked panic, sending the fruit seller's wife, Pooja Devi, daughter, Lakshmi Devi, and Lahuri Uma Devi screaming and running out.
A massive explosion then occurred, razing the two-story house to the ground and sending a plume of smoke billowing into the sky.
Soon after the explosion, the villagers rushed to rescue and started clearing the debris. Suresh Gupta's 24-year-old nephew, Alok Gupta, and eight-year-old Ved Gupta died.
His 15-year-old son, Arpit Gupta, 18-year-old Kunal son, Rohit Gupta and a five-year-old neighbour, Tukku, son of Guddan, sustained burn injuries. They were taken to the medical college by ambulance.
The police team, led by City CO Gaurav Sharma, arrived upon receiving the news.
