Former Haryana Agriculture Minister's Son Gaganjot Sandhu Dies By Suicide At Punjab Farmhouse

Jagran Correspondent, Rupnagar: Gaganjot Sandhu, son of former Haryana Agriculture Minister late Jaswinder Singh Sandhu, died by suicide on Friday after shooting himself at the Kakot farmhouse in Purkhali village, located in the Rupnagar district of Punjab.

How The Incident Occurred

Sandhu arrived at the farmhouse early Friday morning and was alone on the property when the incident took place. Following the incident, he was rushed to the government hospital in Rupnagar for urgent medical treatment

Dr Chandan of the facility told Jagran.com that Sandhu was brought in at 6:40 PM and declared dead on arrival by doctors. His body was subsequently kept at the hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Investigation Underway

Upon receiving news of the incident, police personnel rushed to the scene, and a forensic unit was also deployed to analyse the site and collect evidence.

Sunny Khanna, SHO of the Rupnagar Sadar police station, stated that an investigation is currently underway and specific details regarding the incident will be known only after the probe is complete.

Political And Family Background

Gaganjot Sandhu had served two terms as the Sarpanch of Gumthala Garhu village in Kurukshetra. He belonged to a prominent political family in Haryana. His father, the late Jaswinder Singh Sandhu, was a four-time MLA and served as the Cabinet Agriculture Minister under the Om Prakash Chautala government. He passed away in 2019.
