A woman biker was thrown off her motorcycle after a car allegedly hit her vehicle on Golf Course Road in Haryana's Gurugram. The lawyer for the accused driver, Kalyan Bainsla, has denied allegations that he was intoxicated and claimed that he was travelling with his family. The lawyer also rejected allegations that Bainsla behaved aggressively before hitting the woman biker.

The alleged hit-and-run incident was captured on an action camera mounted on the woman's motorcycle for a shoot. The victim, identified as Sia, who uses the Instagram handle 'rebelwheels_sia_', was riding an Aprilia RS 457 sports bike, which was also damaged in the crash.

According to Bainsla's lawyer, the occupants of the car had travelled to Delhi to meet relatives and were returning to Gurugram when the incident took place, NDTV reported.

What the accused's lawyer claims

Bainsla's lawyer rejected the woman's account of the incident and claimed that the occupants of the car encountered a large group of bikers on the road. He alleged that the movements of several motorcycles around the car contributed to the crash.

The lawyer also referred to the footage posted by Sia and questioned the speed at which she was riding.

"You see the video of the woman; see it on social media. The woman is driving at a speed of 140-170 kmph on the bike. This road is not for stunts, this road is not for speed," he said. "It is being publicised to stir controversy. It is a woman who wants followers, who wants views, who wants followers," he said.

The lawyer further said, "Because of these (bikers) at least ten to twenty accidents are happening daily," he said, referring to bikers on the road. "They disturb the road and everyone commuting."

"He had a sister with him, an elder brother, and an aunt's son. There were four people in the car," the lawyer said. "The mistake was not on our part; we saved the footpath, the girl came right, and we went a little left, and that is how the crash happened. He did not stop because of possible lynching. He fled in self-defence."

What Sia said

Sia has said she will file an FIR with her lawyer by Monday evening and take legal action in the matter.

Earlier, Sia shared a video recorded on an action camera mounted on her motorcycle. In the video, she alleged that a car repeatedly followed her while she was riding with a group of bikers on Sunday before hitting her motorcycle and fleeing the scene.

She alleged that the occupants appeared to be intoxicated and that the driver asked her to stop despite her asking him to maintain a safe distance. She said she continued riding ahead because she felt the situation was unsafe.

The video shows the car coming into contact with her motorcycle, knocking her off the bike and dragging the motorcycle for several metres before fleeing.

Sia said one of her friends chased the car and confronted the driver at a traffic signal. According to her, the driver denied responsibility and drove away.

However, the car owner has been identified as Manish, who said that the vehicle belonged to him but had been borrowed by his friend Kalyan Singh two days earlier.

Manish said he was at work and learnt about the accident only on Monday morning. He said Singh did not answer his calls when he tried to contact him.
