In a tragic incident, three people were killed, and another was critically injured after a speeding BMW crashed on Mumbai’s Coastal Road and fell off a bridge in the early hours of Sunday. The accident took place as the car was travelling from Marine Drive towards Haji Ali.
The CCTV video of the incident has been circulating on social media, showing the moments after the high-speed crash. In the video, the speeding black BMW is seen losing control and plunging off the elevated Coastal Road near Lotus Jetty, opposite Lala Lajpatrai College, while travelling towards Haji Ali. The car is seen crashing through the side of the elevated road before falling down.

All four occupants of the car were rushed to Nair Hospital after the accident. Doctors declared three of them dead on arrival, while a 20-year-old man was admitted to the trauma ward in critical condition.

The deceased individuals were identified as Shanay Gajjal (21) and Dhirya Seth (17). Another victim, believed to be aged around 25, was yet to be identified, an official said.

The Coastal Road Control Room received information about the accident at around 5:20 am. The BMW suffered extensive damage in the crash, with its front portion completely crushed and a signboard hanging from the bridge also damaged.
"At around 5:20 AM today, we received a control room call reporting an accident on the Coastal Road. A black BMW was travelling northbound from Marine Drive towards Haji Ali when it met with an accident and fell from the Coastal Road," IANS quoted Senior Police Inspector Meena Jagtap.
Police are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident and are trying to determine how the driver lost control of the vehicle.

The accident took place weeks after the Mumbai Police registered cases against six to seven drivers who were suspected to have engaged in racing on the Coastal Road tunnel.
On September 3, cases were registered against a Lamborghini, a BMW M2 and a BMW Z4, among others, for reckless driving and endangering life or personal safety - under sections 281 and 125 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita.
