NCP Crisis: A day after senior NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) leaders met with Home Minister Amit Shah, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar has called a meeting for today. The meeting is being considered crucial, as the number of attendees can define the command Sunetra has over the party. While the reports suggesting an internal rift has intensified in the past few days, the Sunetra Pawar-led party has downplayed such talks.

Sunetra Pawar Calls Meeting

As per the reports, the meeting is scheduled to be held at Pawar's Mumbai residence at around 7 pm today. Along with the party MLAs and MPs, the top leaders of the organization have also been asked to attend the meeting. Several core issues are likely to be discussed, including party functioning, state and central politics, and the issues raised by the discontent leaders. However, the number of senior leaders attending the meeting could define Pawar's hold over the party.

Why Senior Leaders Are Upset?

The senior leaders have reportedly complained about the lack of transparency and functioning of young leader Parth Pawar. However, the NCP leaders have assured that the leadership will work in coordination with the senior leaders. In the meeting with Amit Shah, the senior leaders of the party demanded the finance portfolio, the ministry held by then-party chief Ajit Pawar.

The senior leaders Praful Patel, Sunil Tatkare, Dilip Walse Patil, Hassan Mushrif, Chhagan Bhujbal, and Dhananjay Munde also reportedly discussed the state politics with the home minister. As per the reports, Shah suggested they end the infighting and work jointly in the interest of the NDA. Apart from this, any merger talks with the Sharad Pawar-led NCP have also been stopped, the reports suggested.

NCP Issues Clarification

However, the NCP has clarified that the meeting was scheduled earlier, adding that there was no internal conflict within the party. "There is no discontent within the party... The Delhi meeting was pre-planned; all our leaders are united," NCP state chief Sunil Tatkare said in his statement, reported NDTV.
