Delhi Building Collapse: One person was killed and three others injured after an under-construction building in Tahirpur, within the jurisdiction of the GTB Enclave police station in Delhi’s Shahdara district, on Tuesday.

According to eyewitnesses, construction work was underway on a house when the roof suddenly collapsed, leaving several persons under the debris.

Dr Sanjana, who rushed to the spot with ambulances, said she received a call at 3:51 pm, and by the time she arrived, the building had completely collapsed. "There were four people. Three people were trapped under the debris, so we quickly transported all of them to the hospital in our ambulances. One patient was declared dead on arrival, while another had to be intubated and three people are receiving treatment," she added.

Satya Niketan PG Tragedy

The incident occurred weeks after the collapse of a five-storey building in Delhi’s Satya Niketan that left seven people dead. The building was being used as a PG for the students. The incident triggered a huge public outrage, prompting authorities to take action against the house owner and concerned officials. The building collapsed on September 6.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta swang into action after the tragedy. She visited the AIIMS Trauma Centre on Tuesday and met the families of students affected by the building collapse, provided financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each to the injured. The compensation for the kin of those who died in the tragedy will be announced soon, sources from her office said.

Gupta also directed the municipal corporation to conduct a safety review of PGs across the city, including checks of building safety, requisite permissions, Fire Safety NOCs, and structural stability certificates.

The contractor, Sanoj, was on his way to Delhi for questioning in connection with the construction and repair work carried out at the building housing the Hostel Daze PG, the police said.

“During the investigation, Mahesh told police that he used to look after the maintenance of the building on behalf of his parents,” a police officer said.

The building had been leased to the PG operator Hostel Daze in August 2025, he said.
