In a big announcement, Tamil Nadu's ruling alliance, led by Chief Minister Vijay's TVK, has been officially named ‘Secular Social Justice Victory Alliance’. A meeting of the allies of the ruling TVK, chaired by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, took place on Wednesday to hammer out key issues, including an official name for the combine.

However, several leaders of the Left parties including CPI(M) and the CPI, which support the government skipped the meeting at TVK headquarters in Panaiyur.

This was the second major gathering since the post-poll coalition formed the government and was reportedly focused on formalising the alliance structure.

Tamil Nadu Congress Committee President B. Manickam Tagore, the grand old party's Rajya Sabha member and Assembly floor leader, along with Praveen Chakravarthy and Tharahai Cuthbert, respectively, took part in the meeting.

Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam top leaders Vaiko and his son Durai, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) chief Thol Thirumavalavan, and Indian Union Muslim League leaders KM Kader Mohideen, A. M. Shahjahan and Syed Farooq Basha were among the participants.

CM Vijay's TVK secured a historic win in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections this year by winning 108 seats in its debut poll. The TVK-led government was formed days after the results were declared, as Vijay needed the support of at least 10 MLAs to take the oath.
