Next Mahakumbh After 2025: The grand Mahakumbh on Wednesday concluded with almost 66 crore devotees taking a holy dip in the Ganga river in Prayagraj in less than two months. As the auspicious religious event concluded with a holy dip on Mahashivratri, the devotees were curious to know about the location and time frame of the next Kumbh.
The religious preachers stated that the next Kumbh will be hosted by Maharashtra's Nashik in 2027. The religious event is likely to be held from July 17 to August 17, 2027. The exact location of the Kumbh will be at Trimbakeshwar, situated at approximately 38 km from Nashik. The city is located along the sacred banks of the Godavari River.

The Kumbh is held at four of the Indian cities: Prayagraj, Haridwar, Nashik, and Ujjain, based on a mythological reference. The first hint of the religious gathering Kumbh emerges from the Rigveda, one of the four Hindu scriptures. The scripture stated that the meaning of 'Kumbh' is a pitcher that contained the elixir of immortality. It surfaced during the churning of the cosmic ocean.
The scripture stated that the battle between gods and demons continued for a 12-day celestial battle, equivalent to 12 human years. It further stated that the drops of the nectar fell at the four cities, designated as the Kumbh sites. However, there are several types of Kumbh depending on the time period of its occurrence. While the fair that takes place every four years is Kumbh, the fair that takes place every six years is called Ardh Kumbh Mela.
Apart from this, the fair that is conducted after 12 years is called Purna Kumbh Mela, and the recently concluded fair in Prayagraj was termed Maha Kumbh, believed to be conducted after 144 years. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has instructed the authorities to form a board for the 2027 Simhastha Kumbh Mela in Nashik-Trimbakeshwar.
