Petrol Diesel Prices: The Centre on Thursday clarified that sufficient stocks of petrol and diesel are available at all petrol pumps across the country, asserting that their retail prices remain unchanged. The government also stated that domestic LPG supplies are normal, despite the global energy havoc, following the ongoing hostility in West Asia.

Retail Fuel Prices Will Remain Unchanged: Govt

A Petroleum Ministry official said at the daily inter-ministerial briefing, "All citizens are requested to make efforts to conserve energy in their daily use in the current situation." He added, "Citizens are advised to avoid panic buying of petrol, diesel, and LPG. Be cautious of rumours and rely on official sources for accurate information."

Govt Issues Public Advisory

Citizens are advised to avoid panic purchase of petrol, diesel and LPG as the Govt is making all efforts to ensure availability of petrol, diesel and LPG, the statement read.

  • Beware of rumours and rely on official sources for correct information.
  • LPG consumers are requested to use digital booking platforms and avoid visiting distributors.
  • Citizens are encouraged to use alternate fuels such as PNG and electric or induction cooktops.
  • All citizens are requested to make necessary efforts to conserve energy in their daily use during the current situation.
  • Despite the ongoing geopolitical situation, the Government has ensured that 100% supply is being made to Domestic LPG, Domestic PNG and CNG (Transport).

Govt Junks Fuel Shortage Rumours

The ministry stated that despite the geopolitical situation, 100 per cent supply of domestic LPG, PNG, and CNG (transportation) has been ensured. In the last three days, about 1.39 crore cylinders have been supplied, as against the booking of about 1.40 crore domestic LPG cylinders.

Long Quest At Fuel Pumps Following Rumours

The government said adequate stocks of petrol and diesel are available in the states and asked people not to indulge in panic buying amid rumours of fuel shortage. The clarification came after long queues of vehicles were seen at several fuel stations in several cities, including Chandigarh, Raipur, Ranchi and Bhubaneshwar, following rumours about shortage of petrol and diesel.
