"The Kanwar Yatra during the Shravan month is renowned worldwide. During this period, Shiva devotees from across the country, including North India, engage deeply in the rituals of Mahadev, showing their devotion by performing ‘jalabhishek’ at Shiva temples," the chief minister said in a statement issued on Monday. "No festival or spiritual practice is complete without self-discipline," he added.

He stressed that for a smooth and safe journey, devotion should be both internal and external, quoting, “Shivo Bhutva Shivam Yajet” (to worship Shiva, one must first become Shiva).

"No festival, celebration, or ‘sadhana’ is complete without self-discipline. To ensure a smooth and safe journey, we must be devoted not only internally but also externally. ‘Shivo Bhutva Shivam Yajet’ (to worship Shiva, first become Shiva)," he said.

The chief minister assured that both central and state governments have coordinated to provide comprehensive arrangements for a safe Kanwar Yatra. Measures include increased patrolling, cleanliness initiatives, health camps, and provisions for surveillance through drones and helicopters.

The Kanwar Yatra, which began on July 22, is set to conclude on August 6. Devotees transport holy water from the Ganga in ‘kanwars’ to perform ‘jalabhishek’ on Shivlings during the holy Hindu calendar month of 'Sharvan'.
