An engineer collapsed mid-pitch and later died of a heart attack while playing cricket at a ground in Uttar Pradesh’s Noida on Sunday. A video of the incident that went viral on social media showed that the man was running to the other side of the pitch to take a run, but he collapsed midway on the pitch. 

After the man collapsed, the other players on the field immediately rushed towards him to help and also reportedly gave him CPR to revive him. He was then rushed towards a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead by doctors.  

The man, identified as Vikas Negi (36), was earlier infected with Covid-19 but was healthy. The techie mostly played cricket in Noida and Delhi to keep himself fit, but unfortunately on Sunday, he had a heart attack which led to his death.

Young individuals have experienced a rise in heart attack cases in the last few years as heart diseases become more common among youths in India and remain a major cause of death. 

The fast-paced lifestyle and changing behaviours are to blame for the increase in cardiac arrests and related problems. Heart attacks are now thought to affect every other young person between the ages of 30 and 40 which is a huge change as previously, it was thought that they mainly affect the elderly population.
