Noida has witnessed a sudden spike in dog bite incidents, with 74550 cases registered in just 5 months. The majority of these cases are linked to stray dogs. The figure was recorded between January 2025 and May 2025.
As per the report, 52714 were attacked by stray dogs while 16474 became targets of pet dogs across sectors in Noida. Besides, 3833 were bitten by monkeys while 1179 were attacked by cats. According to these figures, on average, 15 thousand people every month and about 500 people every day are being affected by animal attacks.
Gautam Buddha Nagar Health Department Deputy CMO Dr Tikam Singh, cited by Aaj Tak, said that the increasing incidents of animal bites have become a matter of serious concern in the city. To control this, the Health Department has started the process of identifying hotspots in the district in collaboration with the CVO (Chief Veterinary Officer) and the Noida Authority.
The Deputy CMO further said that by identifying hotspots, it will be ascertained where animal attacks are frequently seen, adding that the move will help in carrying out prevention, vaccination and rescue operations.

Over 1 lakh dog bite cases were recorded in 2023 in Noida. The cases surged by 31 per cent, taking the number to 1.3 lakh in 2024. Most of these cases were recorded in CCTVs of residential societies.
