Noida News: Given the surge in cases of electrocution during the rainy season, the Noida Power Company Limited (NPCL) has introduced a comprehensive month-long awareness drive about electrical safety across over 100 villages and localities in Greater Noida to control cases of electrocution or accidents due to leakage or waterlogging.
According to discom officials, the drive started on Tuesday and will continue for a month, Hindustan Times reported. Under the campaign, the mobile awareness team, named ‘bike gangs’, has been deployed in two zones, where Zone 1 includes Surajpur, Sutyana, Tusyana, Habibpur, and Kulesra, while Zone 2 covers Hathewa, Kasna, Girdharpur, Ladpura, and Dabra, the report added.

According to NPCL spokesperson Manoj Jha, “These mobile teams—what we call our ‘bike gangs’—are helping us reach deep into localities with loudspeaker announcements and pamphlets,” the report added. “This personal outreach ensures the message reaches even those who may not have access to digital alerts,” Jha was further quoted in the report.
The team are using pamphlets and a microphone to aware residents about the potential hazards. The seasonal safety tips include keeping appliances dry, using ISI-marked equipment, switching off the main power during seepage, and avoiding contact with electric poles or flooded switchboards.
Besides outreach and awareness, the NPCL has bolstered its network surveillance Team (NST). Four units, each with two trained technicians, are working in the network surveillance team. The team are continuously monitoring panels, leakage indicators, and coordinating urgent repairs, particularly in flood-prone areas.
Jha added, “The goal is to reach as many people as possible and deliver clear, actionable safety instructions. In previous years, a lack of awareness during the rains has led to avoidable accidents. We are hoping to change that.”
