Amanatullah Khan, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Okhla, has denied allegations of being on the run following an FIR against him. Amid an ongoing police search for his arrest, Khan stated that he is not hiding and accused the Delhi Police of falsely implicating him. In a letter to the Delhi Police Commissioner, he clarified that he remains in his constituency.

The re-elected AAP legislator is facing legal trouble after being accused of leading an attack on a police team in Jamia Nagar. Following the incident, an FIR was registered, and reports surfaced claiming that Khan had gone into hiding. However, the MLA has refuted these claims, maintaining that he has not fled and is still in Okhla.

Khan Rejects Claims of Absconding

According to ANI, Khan wrote in his letter, "I am in my constituency, not absconding. Some Delhi Police officials are falsely implicating me in a fabricated case. The person whom the police came to arrest has already secured bail. When he presented his legal documents, the police, instead of admitting their mistake, started framing me."

Earlier, the police conducted searches at Khan’s residence and other locations but failed to locate him or his co-accused. His mobile phone has also been switched off. Authorities have charged him under multiple sections, including those related to rioting, obstructing government work, assaulting a public servant, aiding an accused’s escape, and issuing threats.

Allegations Against Amanatullah Khan

The Crime Branch had received a tip-off that Shahwaz, a fugitive wanted in a 2018 attempted murder case, was hiding in Jamia Nagar. Acting on this intelligence, a police team arrived at the location on Monday and detained Shahwaz.

However, according to police reports, Khan soon arrived at the scene with 20-25 of his supporters. He allegedly opposed the arrest, threatened officers, and, along with his supporters, forcibly freed Shahwaz from custody. The MLA and his group are also accused of manhandling the police personnel.

FIR Filed Under Multiple IPC Sections

Based on a complaint by Crime Branch Sub-Inspector Birpal, a case has been registered against Khan and his associates, including Laddan, Munir, and Furman, along with 20-25 unidentified supporters. The charges include Sections 221, 121(1), 132, 191(2), 190, 263(B), 351(3), and 111 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Since the incident, Khan and his supporters have been untraceable, and their phones remain switched off. The police have formed multiple teams to track them down, but no leads have emerged so far.

The case continues to unfold as authorities investigate the allegations, while Khan maintains his innocence and accuses the police of political targeting.
