In a startling incident, four Faridabad Police personnel were injured after a mob of nearly two dozen attacked the police team, who were returning after arresting an alleged auto-lifter. The attackers consisted of family members, relatives of the accused, along with some villagers. The attackers first followed the police vehicle with a pickup truck, pelted stones and then tried to run over the pickup truck over the team in Harayana's Nuh, the officials said.

Twenty men and a woman were booked for the alleged attack as the injured policemen were being treated at hospitals in Faridabad and Gurugram.

Police Sub-Inspector Samsuddin has filed a complaint in this matter, narrating the entire scenario. In his complaint, SI Samsuddin said that the team had left the Jamalgarh village of Nuh district in a private vehicle after arresting the accused named Salim.

Salim is an alleged auto-lifter for whom the police were conducting raids. Nevertheless, soon after the police team left the village, a white pickup started following their vehicle.

When the police team reached Aadarav Chowk around 2 pm, about 20 men and a woman standing on the roadside began pelting stones at their vehicle, Samsuddin added.

To evade the attack, Constable Vikrant, who was driving the vehicle, turned it towards Punhana town. However, the constable lost control and the vehicle overturned.

After the police team and the accused came out of the overturned vehicle, the pickup tried to run them over. In the attack, Sub-inspector Sunder, Head Constable Yunis Khan, and constables Vikrant and Nitin were injured.

Following this, the accused's family members and relatives tried to free Salim from custody. However, they fled after a constable reached the spot in a police vehicle, Samsuddin said in his complaint.

Punhana SHO Jasvir Singh said the police were conducting raids to nab the accused.
