Odisha Bandh Today: The Navnirman Krushak Sangathan (NKS) has called for a statewide Odisha Bandh today, Wednesday, January 28. The protest, which began at 6 AM and is scheduled to continue until 2 PM, has been called to protest alleged mismanagement in paddy procurement, with support from Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee.

While public transport, banks, and local markets may experience disruptions during the eight-hour window, emergency services such as hospitals, ambulances, and pharmacies will remain fully operational.

Odisha Bandh On January 28: What's Open And What's Closed?

The statewide Odisha Bandh is being observed on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 from 6 AM to 2 PM.

- Schools: As of Wednesday morning, January 28, the Odisha government has not issued any formal notification announcing school closure due to Odisha bandh. Parents are advised to check directly with school authorities, as some private institutions may choose to suspend physical classes or move them online as a precautionary measure.

- Public Transport: However, public transport and daily movement are likely to be affected from 6 PM to 2 PM.

- Government Offices: The government offices may operate at reduced capacity as employees face difficulty commuting due to the bandh.

- Administrative Services: Other services such as document processing, public grievance redressal and routine administrative work may also face delays during the window.

Odisha Bandh Today: What Are The Demands Of The Farmers?

- The Navnirman Krushak Sangathan (NKS) has called an eight-hour strike to demand Rs 800 per quintal input assistance for farmers at state mandis and the removal of middlemen and millers from the procurement process.

- The farmers are also demanding the rollout of electricity smart meters, heavy fines for pollution certificate violations, and oppos the replacement of MGNREGA with the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (VB-GRAM G).
