Odisha: Man Stripped, Beaten Publicly Paraded Over Relationship With Minor Girl; Two Arrested

In a distressing incident in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district, a man was stripped naked, tied up, brutally beaten by a mob, and paraded through the streets over allegations of a relationship with a minor girl.

The alleged relationship between the man and the girl had previously led to disputes and a police case. On 2 January, the couple were seen together by the girl’s relatives, who intervened.

Following the confrontation, a mob reportedly gathered and vandalised the man’s car. According to an NDTV report, the attackers stripped him of his clothes, tied his hands, and forced him to walk through the streets. The incident was recorded, and the video quickly went viral on social media.

The victim’s family has filed a complaint, citing public humiliation and assault, and demanded the immediate arrest of all those involved.

Rairangpur SDPO Gokulananda Sahu confirmed that the police have arrested two individuals, who will be presented before a court. Authorities have urged calm as investigations continue.
