Traffic snarls caused by narrow culverts on Eastern Kachehri Road and near Lokpriya Hospital are set to ease, as the Meerut Development Authority (MDA) has announced that widening work on both culverts will begin within the next 10 days.

The MDA has issued work orders to the contractor, while the Municipal Corporation will remove encroachments around the sites. The Electricity Corporation will relocate poles, cables, and transformers, and BSNL will shift optical fibre cables and other equipment.

The MDA has formally communicated with all concerned departments to ensure smooth execution. Earlier, a culvert on the Kaserukheda drain on Mawana Road was also widened, though it remains unused as the approach road is yet to be completed.

Officials said the widening of these three culverts is part of the government-approved Integrated Development Plan aimed at improving traffic flow and urban infrastructure in Meerut.
