Odisha Weather: In the upcoming days, thunderstorm activity with lightning, gusty winds, and heavy rainfall is expected in several regions of Odisha. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Saturday that conditions are favourable for the Southwest monsoon to move across additional regions of Odisha, Gujarat, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh during the next two days.

A trough extends from a cyclonic circulation across south Bangladesh and the nearby north Bay of Bengal to south Odisha, the IMD added.

In several areas of Odisha, the IMD has issued orange and yellow warnings for lightning and thunderstorms.

The districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkanigiri, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, and Kandhamal are anticipated to see a thunderstorm with lightning, gusty surface winds of 30 to 40 kmph, and heavy rainfall on June 15.

The districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, and Malkangiri are likely to experience a thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface winds of 30 to 40 kmph on June 16. For the same, a yellow alert has been issued.

The districts of Sundargarh and Keonjhar are under an orange alert for thunderstorms and lightning, strong surface winds of 30 to 40 kmph, and the possibility of severe to extremely heavy rainfall in one or two locations.
