Odisha Crime:  A jilted minor hacked a man to death in Raghunath Nagar, near the Khandagiri police station in Odisha's Bhubaneshwar, police said on Thursday. The accused felt humiliated after being scolded for harassing a girl.

Two juveniles have been detained, including the primary accused. The accused boy is a local college student in Class 12 in the city.

It was determined that the deceased was Jagat Mallik, also known as Jaga, from Suka Vihar in the city's Raghunath Nagar neighbourhood.

The victim, a 30-year-old auto driver, was on his way back home from a cultural event in Cuttack. According to reports, on Wednesday night, the accused minor and his companion stopped the deceased's vehicle only a hundred metres from his home.

Mallik got into a furious dispute with the kids. Later, they attacked the victim with a sword, according to their plan. After the incident, they left the scene, leaving Mallik bleeding.

After being rushed to the AIIMS in Bhubaneswar, Mallik was pronounced dead by the doctor.

Khandagiri Police arrived at the scene after receiving the information and started looking into the situation. Speaking to the media, Bhubaneswar Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Prateek Singh stated that the accused have been apprehended and the weapon of offense has been recovered.

DCP Singh further stated that police are reviewing the school leaving certificate and other documentation to determine if the accused is a juvenile or not. Sources, cited by IANS, claimed that around two months ago, there was a fight between the deceased and the accused's relatives over the unrecruited love affair. The father of the accused allegedly threatened to kill the deceased's family members over the matter, according to the deceased's relatives.
