Samvidhan Sadan: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Tuesday announced that the old Parliament building will now be known as "Samvidhan Bhavan," as Parliament proceedings shifted to the new building today. The Special Session of the Parliament began on Monday in the old building. Birla further announced that the terms such as House, Lobby, and Galleries used in the proceedings of the Lok Sabha will refer to the new building.

"The building where we gathered in the morning will now be known as Samvidhan Sadan," Birla said. This came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier in the day, suggested that the old building should be renamed to Samvidhan Sadan.

"We are shifting to the new Parliament building. It is an auspicious day, it is Ganesh Chaturthi," he said. "My suggestion is that as we are going to the new building, the glory of this building should never decline. It should not be called just the old Parliament. It can be named Samvidhan Sadan," Modi said.

PM Modi highlighted the importance of knowledge and innovation, especially in the wake of India's success with Chandrayaan-3, which has inspired the youth in the field of science and technology. He emphasised India's ambition to excel in manufacturing, promoting the concept of 'Zero Defect, Zero Effect' in products and processes for the environment.

Addressing the Members of Parliament from both Houses in the Central Hall, PM Modi stressed the need for every law, discussion, and signal emanating from Parliament to align with the aspirations of the Indian people. He urged political parties to prioritize the nation's future over political gains.

The proceedings of both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha took place in the new Parliament building, marking the beginning of a new era for India. He highlighted the need for the country to work on a broader scale to achieve its goal of becoming a developed nation, in the spirit of self-reliant India (Atmanirbhar Bharat).

In the 25 years of Amrit Kaal, India will have to work on a larger canvas. The time for us to get caught up in smaller issues is over. First of all, we will have to meet the goal of becoming Atmanirbhar Bharat. It is the need of the hour, it is everyone's duty. Parties do not come in its way. Sirf Dil chahiye, desh ke liye chahiye," he said.

"Can anyone ever make a big picture on a small canvas? Just as we cannot make a big picture on a small canvas, in the same way, if we cannot enlarge the canvas of our thinking, we will not be able to paint a picture of a grand India," he added.
