Onam 2025: The Kochi Metro and Water Metro will operate additional trains in the upcoming days to manage the surge in passengers during the Onam festival. The authority stated that the trains will operate till 10.45 pm from September 2 to September 4 to provide relief to the commuters. The Kochi Metro stated that the decision was taken after receiving multiple requests from the authorities and passengers. It further stated that the operation of extra trains will provide convenience to the commuters by significantly cutting the travel time and reducing traffic congestion. It further advised the commuters to follow the guidelines and plan their travel accordingly to avoid any inconveniences.

Kochi Metro to operate extra trains for Onam

- Kochi Metro will operate additional trains to manage the expected crowd during the Onam festival.

- The authority stated that the trains will operate until 10.45 pm from September 2 to 4 to assist the passengers.

- Kochi Metro also stated that the last train between Aluva and Thripunithura stations will depart at 10.45 p.m.

- Six additional metro trains will operate during peak hours, the authority informed.

- The water metro will also increase the frequency of trains during the peak time; the gap between two trains will be 10 minutes.

- The metro services from Fort Kochi to High Court terminals will be available until 9 pm between September 2 and 7.

A large number of residents travel to different parts of the city on the occasion of the Onam festival. The authority advised the commuters to utilise the public transport to avoid the rush during peak hours. The Kochi Metro also suggested the passengers check the timings beforehand to avoid any inconveniences. Earlier last week, Kochi Metro announced that several new steps will be taken in the upcoming months to boost the regional connectivity in Kochi and other nearby cities.
