Operation Mahadev: The Indian Army on Sunday confirmed the killing of three Pakistani terrorists linked to the Pahalgam attack. The operation, named OP Mahadev, was carried out jointly by the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and the CRPF on July 28.

The terrorists have been identified as Suleman Shah alias Faisal Jaat, Hamza Afgani,and Jibran Bhai. During the encounter, security forces recovered two AK series rifles, an M4 rifle, along with a large quantity of ammunition and warlike materials from the site.

The Army described the mission as a significant move towards restoring peace in the region. In the X, it stated, "The mission marks a critical step in restoring security in Kashmir and the commitment of the Indian Army towards establishing peace and development. The operation continues."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also lauded the efforts of the armed forces. In a post on X, he said Union Home Minister Amit Shah had shared important details about Operation Mahadev and Operation Sindoor during his speech in the Lok Sabha. Modi stated that Shah addressed the issue of national security with utmost seriousness.

During his address in Parliament, Home Minister Shah said the three terrorists responsible for the killings in Baisaran Valley, Pahalgam, were successfully neutralised. He confirmed that Suleman, Afghan and Jibran were behind the recent terror attack and were eliminated in the joint action.

Shah added that Suleman and Afghan were A-category commanders of Lashkar-e-Taiba. He also shared details of the investigation, which included questioning over 1,000 people including locals, photographers and pony operators. Based on inputs, sketches were prepared and two individuals who had harboured the terrorists, Bashir and Parvezwere identified.

He further mentioned that those who supplied food to the terrorists had already been detained and later helped identify the dead bodies of the militants in Srinagar.
