Operation Sindoor: India launched 'Operation Sindoor' targeting nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir early on Wednesday. With this airstrike, Indian forces destroyed the headquarters of terror outfits Jaish, Lashkar, and Hizbul.

India's attack was a retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people on April 22 and left the country in shock and grief.

The assailants were associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), a terrorist organisation located in Pakistan.

For the airstrike, Indian armed forces used cutting-edge weapons like the SCALP cruise missile, the HAMMER precision bomb and loitering munitions. Let us look at the usage of each of them and how lethal they are.

Weapons Used In Operation Sindoor

SCALP Missile: The SCALP missile, sometimes called Storm Shadow, is a long-range cruise missile that can go over 250 kilometres. It is designed to strike far into the enemy's domain.

HAMMER: The military targeted the structures and bunkers that Lashkar and Jaish used as training camps with the Highly Agile Modular Munition Extended Range (HAMMER) smart bomb. It is a standoff weapon that can strike targets up to 70 kilometres away.

Loitering Munitions: Loitering munitions were used by the troops to acquire targets and conduct surveillance. These are renowned for their ability to hover over targets and destroy them either automatically or with a remote control.
