In A Bid to shield up for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in 2024, Opposition Parties will meet in April end once again. According to reports, the parties will unite at a place to discuss the 2024 elections and the meet will also be attended by Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge.
"There will be a meeting of opposition parties by the end of April, after holding talks with them. Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge will talk to opposition parties," reported news agency ANI citing sources soon after the historic meet that took place on April 12, in which top leaders of the Congress, Janata Dal (United) (JDU) and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) met in Delhi.
Meanwhile, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar along with his deputy Tejashwi Yadav met Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and party president Mallikarjun Karge and discussed the upcoming elections.
Janata Dal United president Lalan Singh also accompanied Nitish Kumar and Tejashwi Yadav in the meeting. Further, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Manoj Jha and former union minister Salman Khurshid were also present in the meeting held at Kharge's residence.
The meeting between the leaders assumed significance amid efforts by leaders of several opposition parties to forge a united opposition alliance to take on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the Centre in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
After the meeting, Rahul Gandhi, addressing a presser said that they will develop the vision of the opposition parties and will stand together for the country. "This is a historic step to unite the opposition. We will develop the vision of the opposition parties and move forward; we will all stand together for the country," Rahul Gandhi said.
Meanwhile, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said that the motive of the meeting is to unite as many parties as possible and work together for the 2024 Lok Sabah elections. "We will try to unite as many political parties as we can and move forward together," he said.
Earlier on several occasions, Kharge has spoken to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president MK Stalin and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray over the Opposition unity.
