AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi asserted on Friday that the Congress party has an equal role as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the RSS in the demolition of Babri. "I have seen Congress leader Kamal Nath's statement. I have been saying this that the Congress' role in Babri mosque demolition was similar to BJP, RSS' role. Kamal Nath's statement has once again proved that Congress was equally responsible for the demolition of Babri mosque," said AIMIM president as quoted by news agency PTI.
The assertion comes after Congress leader Kaamal Nath made reference to Rajiv Gandhi’s role in the Ram temple issue, particularly highlighting the unlocking of the make-shift Ram temple at the mosque site.
"Taala khola...Rajiv Gandhi got the locks opened. Let's not forget history," Kamal Nath said in an interview with The Indian Express.
On Friday, Kamal Nath said that Ram Mandir belongs to every person in the country.
The Babri mosque demolition in Ayodhya has remained a significant and deeply divisive issue in Indian politics for years now. The issues continue to be a matter of heated debate, with every side bringing a strong point in their favour. In 2019, the Supreme Court awarded the disputed site to the Hindu parties, allowing for the construction of a Ram temple.
As the assembly poll in Madhya Pradesh is scheduled to be held this month, the former Chief Minister said that the polls on November 17 are neither an election of a candidate nor a party, but rather the election of the future of Madhya Pradesh. He made the remarks while addressing an election rally in Madhya Pradesh's Mandsaur district on Friday.
"I want to ask what is the condition of our state today? This Chaupat Pradesh (ruined state), ruined health system, ruined education system, ruined agricultural system, ruined industries, ruined economy, ruined ration system and ruined nutrition system, its picture is in front of everyone as to what kind of ruined government is running in the state," Nath said.
He further said, "Today, I have come to say that every election has its own meaning, the election on November 17 is neither of any candidate nor of any party but it is the election of the future of Madhya Pradesh. In this election you (the public) will decide what kind of state you want to hand over to the coming generations."
Nath also said that he had contested elections for the last 40 years, but he had never seen such an election where the question was the future of the state.
The Congress state chief attacked Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and asked what he had given to the state besides inflation, corruption, deaths during the COVID-19 period, increasing scams, mafias, and liquor in every house?
The voting in the state will take place on November 17, and the counting will be held on December 3.
