A jawan of the Border Security Force (BSF) was detained by Pakistani Rangers on Wednesday, April 23, after he accidentally crossed the international border in Firozpur of Punjab, while on duty. A flag meeting has been called to ensure the safe return of the jawan, said a senior BSF officer

A day after India announced a similar measure, Pakistan asked military advisers at the Indian High Commission to leave the country by April 30, PTI reported.

India on Thursday cancelled visa services to Pakistani nationals with immediate effect, the MEA announced. This came as a retaliatory move after 26 people, including tourists, were killed by Pakistan-based terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam.

Ambassadors of various countries, including Germany, Japan, Poland, UK and Russia, arrived at the office of the Ministry of External Affairs. Ministry of External Affairs officials briefed ambassadors of several countries about the Pahalgam attack, ANI reported.

"Samajwadi Party has decided that in the all-party meeting, the Principal Secretary General of the party, Ram Gopal Yadav will be present in the meeting and will be keeping the views of the Samajwadi Party in the meeting. Shailesh Kalthia, a native of Varachha area of Surat city, was killed in the Pahalgam terror attack on 22nd April. His son, Naksh Kalthia, says, "We were at the 'mini Switzerland' point in Pahalgam, J&K. We heard gunshots. We hid once we realised that terrorists had entered the area. But, they found us. We saw two terrorists. I heard one of them ordered all the men to separate into Muslims and Hindus, and then shot all the Hindu men. The terrorists asked the men to recite 'Kalma' three times. All those who could not recite it were shot. Once the terrorists left, the locals came and said that all those who had survived should go downhill immediately. The army arrived an hour or so after we climbed down from the point. The terrorists were not letting him (my father) speak at all. They did not say anything (to my mother). One of the terrorists was fair and had a beard. He had a camera tied to his head. They spared the women and the children.",

An all-party meeting will be convened tomorrow on the terror attack-related situation. Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh are speaking to all parties, ANI reported.

The Defence, Military, Naval, and Air Advisors in the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi are declared persona non grata. They have a week to leave India, says MEA.

The MEA said Pakistani nationals won't be permitted to travel to India. The decision has been taken in CCS meeting chaired by PM Modi.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday reached 7 LKM, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence, for a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security.

Saudi Arabia condemns the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that resulted in many deaths and injuries.

In the aftermath of the Pahalgam Terror Attack, the Indian Railways has set up a helpdesk at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra railway station for tourists returning to their respective destinations. A special train from SMVD Katra to New Delhi is being run to assist the passengers and accommodate the extra rush.

GM Northern Railway Ashok Kumar Verma says, "We are running a special train to Delhi which will run from here at 9 pm today. After looking at the demand, we can add more trains."

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on April 23 blamed the Central Government for the Pahalgam terror attack, calling it an ‘intelligence failure’. Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, he stated that the incident was a planned assault and pointed to lapses in the Centre’s intelligence system. 

Government employees across Jammu and Kashmir observed a two-minute silence at 3:30 PM today to honour the 26 victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. Announcing the tribute on his official X handle, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah stated that all government offices have been requested to pause briefly in respect and solidarity for those killed in the terrorist assault that claimed the lives of innocent civilians in Baisaran Valley.

Bangladesh condemned the terror attack in Pahalgam, offering condolences to the victims' families. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed deep sympathy, calling the attack a senseless act of violence. "Bangladesh extends deepest condolences to the families of the victims and expresses heartfelt sympathy to all those affected by this mindless act of violence," the statement read.

The Assam government is taking steps to bring back a family from the state who survived the recent terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) confirmed on Tuesday.

In a post on X, the CMO stated, “The @CMOfficeAssam has spoken to a survivor from Assam of the heinous #PahalgamTerrorAttack and received a detailed account of the incident they faced yesterday.”

The identity of the family has not yet been disclosed.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed grief over the deaths of Telugu community members, JS Chandramouli and Madhusudhan, in the Pahalgam terror attack. In a post on X, he condemned terrorism as a stain on society and stressed that violence achieves nothing. He affirmed Andhra Pradesh’s support for Prime Minister Modi and the Centre, urging strict action against those responsible for the attack and expressing solidarity with the victims' families.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday chaired a high-level meeting with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and the chiefs of the three Armed Forces, along with other officials. The meeting discussed all issues related to the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. The issue is expected to be discussed in further detail in the Cabinet Committee on Security meeting, which is likely to be held today.

J&K CMO announces an ex gratia of Rs 10 lakh each for the families of the deceased, Rs 2 lakh for those seriously injured, and Rs 1 lakh for those with minor injuries.

A team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has reached the Pahalgam terrorist attack site. The team will assist the J&K Police with the investigation.

J&K CM Omar Abdullah tweets, "While DGCA & the Ministry of Civil Aviation are working to organise extra flights, NH-44 between Srinagar & Jammu has been reconnected for traffic in a single direction. I’ve directed the administration to facilitate traffic between Srinagar & Jammu allowing tourist vehicles to leave."

He adds, "It’s heartbreaking to see the exodus of our guests from the valley after yesterday’s tragic terror attack in Pahalgam but at the same time we totally understand why people would want to leave. While DGCA & the Ministry of Civil Aviation are working to organise extra flights, NH-44 between Srinagar & Jammu has been reconnected for traffic in a single direction. I’ve directed the administration to facilitate traffic between Srinagar & Jammu allowing tourist vehicles to leave. This will have to be done in a controlled & organised way because the road is still unstable in places and we are also working hard to clear all the stranded vehicles. We will not be able to permit completely free movement of vehicles at the moment & we hope that everyone will cooperate with us."

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is receiving briefings from the Services chiefs, including Army Chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi and Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Tripathi, regarding the ongoing security situation in Kashmir following the terror attack in Pahalgam. Senior officers have been deployed to the affected areas, and local forces have been instructed to remain on high alert while intensifying counter-terrorism operations. Additional troops have been stationed near the attack site to conduct search and neutralise operations, according to Defence sources.

China has expressed shock and condemned the recent attack in Pahalgam, extending heartfelt condolences to the victims and offering sympathies to the injured and the grieving families. Reaffirming its stance, Beijing reiterated its opposition to all forms of terrorism.

A statement from China read, "We are shocked by the attack in Pahalgam and condemn it. Our deepest condolences to the victims and sincere sympathies to the injured and their families. We oppose terrorism in all its forms."

Union Home Minister Amit Shah pays tribute in Srinagar to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack.

Following the attack that killed 26 people and injured at least 20 others, security forces launched search operations to track down the terrorists responsible for the assault.

Karnataka Minister Santosh Lad, currently in Srinagar, oversaw the necessary procedures to ensure that the body of Manjunath, a Shivamogga resident killed in the Pahalgam terror attack, was returned to his family.

Security forces have thwarted an infiltration attempt in an ongoing operation, resulting in a heavy exchange of gunfire with terrorists. According to media reports, two terrorists have been eliminated and a large cache of weapons, ammunition, and other war-related supplies has been recovered.

The Jammu-Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) has condemned the Pahalgam terror attack, calling it “an assault on the very soul of Jammu and Kashmir,” and expressed support for the bandh. Schools across the region are shut today, while universities remain open but are witnessing minimal activity. Locals reported deserted roads and a lack of traffic throughout Kashmir.

Air India and IndiGo will operate a total of four additional flights from Srinagar to Delhi and Mumbai on Wednesday following the terror attack near Pahalgam that left 26 people dead, mostly tourists.

Air India announced on X that it will run two extra flights from Srinagar to Delhi and Mumbai on Wednesday, April 23, due to the ongoing situation.

IndiGo confirmed to PTI that it will also operate two additional flights from Srinagar to Delhi and Mumbai on the same day. The airline further stated it is offering waivers for cancellations or rescheduling to assist passengers travelling to or from Srinagar. Additionally, two extra flights from Mumbai and Delhi to Srinagar will be added beyond the regular schedule.

A group of tourists who were set to visit Pahalgam today have cancelled their plans and are returning to Delhi following the recent terror attack in the region.

At least 26 tourists were killed after terrorists opened fire in Baisaran valley, a tourist hotspot in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The attack occurred around 3 pm when gunmen descended from the hills and began shooting at civilians. Security forces have launched a search operation, and evacuation efforts were carried out using helicopters and ponies.
