Pahalgam Terror Attack Live Updates: Tensions have escalated between India and Pakistan after the terrorist attack in Baisaran Valley in Pahalgam, in which 26 civilians were killed by the Pakistan-backed Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists on April 22. In the latest development, the Defence Minister Rajnath Singh met PM Modi at the latter's residence to discuss the situation. The meeting lasted for over 40 minutes. The meeting came a day after Singh met Chief of General Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan, where key decisions taken by the military were discussed.
Meanwhile, the deadline for Pakistani nationals holding short-term visas to leave India ended on Sunday. The Indian government has revoked all categories of visas issued to Pakistani citizens, except long-term, diplomatic, and official visas.Arun Pal, a protocol officer at the Attari Border, informed that a total of 537 Pakistani nationals have left India through the Attari border over the past three days.850 Indian Nationals have returned to India in the past three days. On Sunday alone, 237 Pakistani nationals returned to their country, while 116 Indian nationals came back. According to the government, anyone who stays beyond the deadline will be prosecuted and sent to jail for 3 years or fined Rs 3 lakh or both.

"If security agencies knew where homes of terrorists are located, why did it require Pahalgam terrorist attack for this kind of action? Narendra Modi government: less optics please, a decisive fight against terror is needed. Punish the guilty. Don't use collateral damage in Kashmir for headline management," says Ghose.

Pahalgam Attack Live News: Police Conducted Searches At Several Terrorists' Residences In PoK
Police have carried out searches at the residences of several terrorists operating from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and their associates in the Doda and Kishtwar districts of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said. The searches are part of ongoing investigations under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the sources added.
Operations against terrorists and their support network have been intensified following the terror attack in South Kashmir’s Pahalgam on April 22, which claimed the lives of 26 people, including a Nepalese citizen, and left several others injured, official sources said. They added that the police are carrying out the action in accordance with due legal procedures.,

Pahalgam Attack Live News: “I Will Not Use This Occasion To Seek Statehood,” Says Chief Minister Omar Abdullah
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah says he will not use the Pahalgam terror attack as an opportunity to push for the restoration of the Union Territory's statehood. Reacting to the J-K statehood demand raised in the Assembly, the chief minister says, "The security in Jammu and Kashmir is not the responsibility of the UT's elected government. But I will not use this occasion to seek statehood. How can I push for statehood now? I do not believe in cheap politics. Should I have no value for the 26 lives lost and go to the Centre demanding statehood now?"
"We have talked about statehood (with the Central government) in the past and we will continue to talk about it in future, but not right now. This time there will be no politics on anything except condemnation of the terror act and expressing solidarity with the families who lost their kin," he says.
"Curse be on me if I go to the Centre and push for statehood at this moment," says Omar Abdullah.

Pahalgam Attack Live News: 22 Arrested In Assam For Defending Pakistan
At least 22 people have been arrested in Assam so far for "defending Pakistan on Indian soil" following the Pahalgam terror attack, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Monday. Sharing the update on X, Sarma said, "22 traitors arrested till now."
Till Sunday night, the number of arrests stood at 19. Among those apprehended is opposition AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam, who was booked on sedition charges for allegedly defending Pakistan and its complicity in the Pahalgam attack.
