The Jammu and Kashmir police revealed that the Pahalgam terrorists, responsible for 26 deaths in April, purchased mobile phone chargers from major e-commerce platforms to communicate with their handlers and overground workers (OGWs). Authorities contacted mobile phone company Vivo and e-commerce platform Flipkart to trace the origin of the chargers recovered from the Mulanar-Mahadev Dachigam forests.

During Operation Mahadev Officials Recovered Mobile Phones
During Operation Mahadev in the Dachigam forests, where the attackers were killed in July, officials recovered three mobile phone chargers. According to News18, police confirmed that one of the chargers was bundled with a Vivo T2X 5G (Aurora Gold) handset. Verification with Vivo and Flipkart traced the purchase to Musaib Ahmad Chopan of Iqbal Computers, who admitted selling the device to Muhammad Yousuf Katari.
“Vivo, in its reply dated 13/08/2025, confirmed the charger maker, and further information from Flipkart indicated that the devices were purchased by Musaib Ahmad Chopan of Iqbal Computers. In his statement, Musaib admitted selling the device to Md Yousuf Katari," officials told CNN-News18.
Yousuf Katari Related Payments Reveled
Police investigations revealed that on 24 May 2025, Yousuf Katari made a payment of Rs 14,500 via mPay, a transaction confirmed through J&K Bank records. During questioning, Katari admitted to providing logistical assistance to the terrorists Afghan Bhai, Suleman Shah, and Jibran while they were hiding in the Dachigam forests.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has identified the trio as responsible for the April attack in Baisaran that left 26 people dead. Authorities believe Katari actively aided their movements and supplied resources as they escaped from the Pahalgam-Dachigam area.
NIA Arrested Related Accused In June
Earlier in June, Bashir Ahmad Jothar of Hill Park, Pahalgam, and Parvaiz Ahmad of Batkote, Pahalgam, were arrested by the NIA for similar logistical support. Katari, a resident of Kulgam, was taken into custody by the police on Wednesday. He has been placed under a 15-day remand for further interrogation to uncover any additional overground associates who may have assisted the terrorists.
