Greater Noida International Trade Show: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who inaugurated the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show 2025 in Greater Noida on Thursday, batted for self-reliance. The prime minister called for the fulfilment of the vision of "Atmanirbhar Bharat", saying at a time when the whole world is experiencing global disruption, countries will "compromise" their own growth by relying on others for their own development.

The Prime Minister stated that India is strengthening its position and will no longer accept being dependent on other nations for its own development.

He asserted that the production of AK-203 rifles will soon begin in a factory setup in Uttar Pradesh in collaboration with Russia. His statement comes amid pressure from the USA to reduce business with Russia.

- The changes in GST are structural reforms that will give wings to the country's growth story, PM Modi said, adding, the GST registration will become easier, tax disputes will be fewer, and MSMEs will get speedy refunds.

- "Our defence forces want 'swadeshi', they want to decrease the dependence on other countries. We are developing a vibrant defence sector in India. We are building such an ecosystem where every part of our weapons has 'Made in India' inscribed on them," he said.

- "Uttar Pradesh is playing a big role in this. Soon, production of AK-203 rifle will begin from a factory set up with Russia's help. A defence corridor is also being set up in Uttar Pradesh. Production of several weapons, including BrahMos missiles, has already started," the prime minister said.

- Tax burden on people will reduce further as India's economy strengthens going ahead, said PM Modi at UPITS 2025.

- Next-gen GST reforms have significantly brought down taxes for the poor and middle class, stated the PM.

- "Disruption doesn't wander us; we find new opportunities in that situation also. India is strengthening its foundation for the upcoming decade through Atmanirbharta. In these changing times, countries will compromise their growth if they keep continuing to rely on others," PM Modi said.

- PM Modi emphasised that even as the world faces uncertainty and disruption, India continues to have "attractive growth".

- "Today is the Jayanti of Deendayal Upadhyaya. He showed us the path of Antyodaya, which means development reaching to even those who are standing at the end of the queue; a message of social justice was given through it. India is showing this development to the whole world," he said.
