India Pakistan Tension: Pakistan Army posts initiated unprovoked small-arms fire across the Line of Control (LoC) opposite the Naushera, Sunderbani and Akhnoor sectors in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir during the intervening night of April 29-30, reported news agency ANI quoting the Indian Army. Pakistan violated the ceasefire across the LoC for a straight sixth day.
Unprovoked firing by the Pakistan Army was also reported from their posts across the LoC in Baramulla and Kupwara districts, as well as across the International Border in the Pargwal Sector in Jammu, ANI reported.
Indian Army troops responded swiftly and proportionately, it added. The violation of the ceasefire by the Pakistan Army across the LoC continued since the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 in which 26 people, mostly tourists were killed, triggering tension between the neighbouring countries.
India planning military action in the next 24-36 hours: Pakistan
In another development, Pakistan on Wednesday claimed it has "credible intelligence" that India is planning military action against it in the next 24-36 hours and warned New Delhi that there would be consequences.
The statement came hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave the top defence brass that the armed forces have "complete operational freedom" to decide on the mode, targets and timing of India's response to the Pahalgam terror attack, government sources said.
Pakistan's Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said the Indian government was preparing to launch an attack on the basis of "baseless and concocted allegations" regarding Pakistan's involvement in the recent terror attack in Pahalgam.
Pakistan Plays Victim Card
Pakistan had itself been a victim of terrorism and had always condemned it in all its forms and manifestations. He added that Islamabad had offered a “credible, transparent and independent” probe by a neutral commission of experts, and accused India of evading investigation and choosing a confrontational path.
Pakistan urged the international community to remain alive warning that any military adventurism by India would be “responded to assuredly and decisively” and that the “onus of any escalatory spiral and its consequences shall squarely lie with India.”
