Jharkhand Blast: The death toll in the blast in Palamu district rose to five with another boy succumbing to injuries, police said Monday, as quoted by news agency PTI. Majid Ansari (7) succumbed to his injuries on his way to Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) in Ranchi. Earlier, at least four people, including three children, were killed in the blast.
The blast reportedly took place at a scrap dealer's yard in Raheya Naudiha area under the jurisdiction of the Manatu Police Station area in Palamu district on Sunday, about 190 km from the state capital Ranchi. The three injured are undergoing treatment at the Medinirai Medical College and Hospital. The police are investigating the incident.
"Four persons had died on Sunday, while one more person, who was on way to Ranchi's RIMS for treatment, succumbed to his injuries late Sunday night,” said Palamu Superintendent of Police (SP) Reeshma Ramesan, as quoted by PTI.
“The area of occurrence has been sealed and they are waiting for forensic lab team to begin investigation. We are probing the incident from every angle, exploring all possibilities, including the likelihood of a bomb detonation,” the SP added.

The deceased include Isteyak Ansari (scrap dealer), Sahadat Ansari, Shaheed Ansari, Varish Ansari and Majid Ansari. Those who suffered injury were identified as Majid Ansari, Afsana Khatun and Rukhsana Khatun.
Isteyak Ansari used to go from village to village and buy scrap in exchange for ice cream. Tragically, on Sunday, the scrap contained the suction pipe of a diesel pump set. A massive explosion took place as soon as the scrap was put on the scale to be weighed.
In this regard, Manatu Police station in-charge said that the police are investigating the matter. They added that the reason shall be clear only after the investigation.
