Displaying solidarity with the NEET UG candidates, the newly-elected MP from Purnia, Pappu Yadav on Tuesday took the oath of the house while wearing a t-shirt featuring the Re-NEET slogan. The MP also voiced the support for the issue from the podium.

Congress party on Tuesday issued a three-line whip to its party MPs to remain present in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday as the House elects its new speaker.

BJP leader and Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Tuesday said elections were never held for the post of Lok Sabha speaker, and NDA wants the same thing for this time too. He further slammed the opposition parties for trying to put conditions for the unanimous election of the Lok Sabha Speaker.

"For the last 2 days, we have contacted the major opposition parties and we have talked about the post of Speaker. Since the country became independent, there has never been an election of the Speaker and we want the Speaker to be elected unanimously and unopposed, so we contacted and appealed to them. Today we had a meeting with Congress leaders, we appealed to them for support for the Speaker but they said that they will support but they want the post of Deputy Speaker. We told them that the process of election for both posts is different, so it is not right to combine both...The attitude of the Congress party was clear that if we did not ask for conditions, they would not support the post of Speaker. I appeal again that they should think about keeping in mind the dignity of the post of Speaker, we have the numbers but still, we are requesting that there should be no election for the post of Speaker because this post does not belong to any party," Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said.

Samajwadi Party Chief and MP Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday took oath as a member of the 18th Lok Sabha.

Congress leader and Raebareli MP, Rahul Gandhi, on Tuesday, took oath of the house in Lok Sabha. In his signature style, the former Congress president held a red-covered copy of the Indian Constitution in his hand.

Congress leader KC Venugopal on Tuesday said that the Opposition was ready to unanimously support the NDA candidate for the Lok Sabha Speaker position on the condition that it give a commitment on giving the post of the Deputy Speaker to them.

After failing to build a consensus for the Lok Sabha Speaker post, Bharatiya Janata Party MP Piyush Goyal on Tuesday said that when Rajnath Singh tried, Congress put the condition of deciding the Deputy Speaker post first. Piyush Goyal said that his party condemned this type of politics.

BJP MP Om Birla has filed his nomination for the post of Speaker of the 18th Lok Sabha. INDIA bloc has fielded Congress MP K Suresh for the post of post, ANI reported.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said the INDIA bloc was ready to support BJP’s speaker pick if the Opposition gets the deputy speaker post.  ,

BJP MP Om Birla is likely to be the NDA candidate for the post of Speaker of the 18th Lok Sabha. He will file his nomination at 11.30 AM today, news agency ANI reported citing Sources.

Speaking on the Lok Sabha Speaker post, AAP MP Malvinder Singh Kang says, "It is the responsibility of the Speaker to protect the voice of the opposition, so we believe that the Speaker should be from the INDIA bloc, otherwise, the Speaker should be from the NDA allies, not from the BJP..."

Samajwadi Party (SP) Chief and MP Akhilesh Yadav reaches Parliament. A total of 281 newly elected MPs, including Rahul Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav, and Mahua Moitra, will take their oaths today.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP MP Om Birla, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Union Minister JP Nadda reach Parliament. The nominations for Lok Sabha Speaker and Deputy Speaker will take place today.,
