Delhi Election 2025: As early trends from the 2025 Delhi Assembly Election point to a massive victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Parvesh Verma, who played a key role in the party’s success by defeating Arvind Kejriwal, shared his thoughts on the next big question of who will lead the new government as Chief Minister and is he going to become the CM Face.
Verma's Response on Delhi CM Position
During an interview with NDTV, Parvesh Verma, who secured a victory in the high-profile battle against Kejriwal, addressed speculation about the Delhi Chief Minister post. Verma, when asked if he was considering the role, made it clear that the decision would be made by the BJP's legislature party and leadership.
"In BJP, the Chief Minister is selected by the legislature party and leadership," Verma said. "You will know soon who will take on that responsibility."
He further assured Delhi voters that the new BJP government would work closely with the central government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address the needs of the capital.
“The people of Delhi have given us this mandate, and we are committed to forming a government that works hand in hand with Prime Minister Modi to ensure Delhi’s development,” he added.
BJP's Return to Power After 27 Years
Parvesh Verma’s victory marks a turning point in the Delhi political landscape. His comeback has solidified his position as a key player in the BJP’s new strategy for the capital. He has previously secured wins in the 2013 assembly elections from Mehrauli and went on to win the 2014 and 2019 parliamentary elections from West Delhi. While he did not receive a ticket for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, his comeback in the Delhi Assembly race has turned out to be a major success.
As the BJP looks to form its government, the question of the Chief Ministerial candidate remains at the forefront. While Parvesh Verma has shown confidence in the party’s leadership to make the final decision, speculation continues to build around who will lead the BJP’s Delhi government moving forward.
PM Modi Hails BJP's Resounding Victory
Shortly after the results were announced, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to X (formerly Twitter) to congratulate the people of Delhi for their decision, calling it a victory for development and good governance.
"My heartfelt congratulations to the people of Delhi for giving BJP this historic win. I am truly grateful," Modi said in Hindi.
I am so proud of each and every @BJP4India Karyakarta, who has worked very hard, leading to this outstanding result. We will work even more vigorously and serve the wonderful people of Delhi.

This election marks a significant political shift in Delhi, as the BJP defeats Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP, ending the party’s long reign over the national capital.
In a follow-up post, PM Modi praised the party workers for their efforts, saying, "I am proud of every BJP Karyakarta who worked tirelessly for this remarkable result. We will continue to serve the wonderful people of Delhi with even more dedication."
BJP Dominates Delhi: What’s Next for the City?
This election has brought stunning upsets, with Arvind Kejriwal losing his New Delhi Assembly seat to BJP’s Parvesh Verma. Kejriwal’s defeat is particularly significant, as Verma is viewed as a potential candidate for chief minister. Alongside Kejriwal, another top AAP leader, Manish Sisodia, also lost in the Jangpura constituency.
