Patna-Ahmedabad Amrit Bharat: In a major update for the residents of Bhagalpur and other nearby districts, the Patna-Ahmedabad Amrit Bharat Express is likely to be extended to the silk city soon. As per the officials, preparations to extend the services to Bhagalpur are now in the final stages. They further stated that the services will provide significant convenience to the residents of several districts, including Bhagalpur, Gaya, Munger, and Buxar.

Earlier, the Eastern Railway Headquarters had requested a detailed feasibility report from the Malda Railway Division for the project. As per the reports, the Malda Railway Division has prepared and submitted its final report to the eastern headquarters. The Eastern Railway headquarters has reportedly given a green signal for the extension of the train services.

The direct train service from Bhagalpur to Ahmedabad is highly likely to begin in November 2026 after completion of all technical and administrative procedures. As per the reports, the Vande Bharat train will arrive at Bhagalpur Railway Station every Friday morning at approximately 6.25 AM. The same train will then depart Bhagalpur for Ahmedabad at 4.30 PM on the same day.

The officials stated that the train will have a total of 22 coaches, adding that all the coaches will be sleeper and general class. It will offer middle-class rail passengers and workers a comfortable journey at very affordable fares. They further stated that the train will utilise push-pull technology, which will also save travel time.

While providing details, Principal Chief Commercial Manager (PCCM) of Eastern Railway, Dr Uday Shankar Jha, said that work is going on at a fast pace towards extending the Patna-Ahmedabad Amrit Bharat Express to Bhagalpur. The administration is taking every necessary step, and its final timetable will be released soon, he added.
