The demand to halt the Vande Bharat train (Patna-Howrah Vande Bharat) on the Patna-Howrah main railway route at Madhupur station is gaining momentum. Madhupur is the main station of Giridih district and is the main boarding station for the people of not only the district but Koderma.
Madhupur has received the junction status for Giridih. The locals have demanded that the Patna-Howrah Vande Bharat must make a halt at Giridih. The locals have raised the issue with JMM Rajya Sabha MP Dr Sarfaraz Ahmed.
Ahmed met the Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and demanded that the Vande Bharat Express running between Patna and Howrah should stop at Madhupur Junction for the convenience of passengers. This matter has also been raised in the House.
The Rajya Sabha MP had said that Madhupur is the main station of Giridih district. Thousands of passengers from Giridih and nearby areas go to Madhupur every day to catch various trains.
Given its importance in the region, trains like the Rajdhani Express stop at Madhupur Junction, but not the Vande Bharat Express running between Patna and Howrah.
He demanded that the train stop at Madhupur Junction. The stoppage of the Vande Bharat Express at Madhupur will provide convenience to railway passengers of Giridih along with Madhupur. However, despite the assurance of the railway minister, there is no progress on the demand.
What do people say?
Hemant Narayan Singh, General Secretary, Chamber of Commerce, said that the stoppage of the Vande Bharat will facilitate the local traders to get easy, comfortable, and direct connectivity to Kolkata and Patna.
"For the convenience of people going to Howrah and Delhi, Vande Bharat train must have a stoppage at Madhupur. The MP is requested to take this matter seriously," Suraj Solanki, a local resident, said.
Another resident Mukesh Sharma said, "A demand has been made to MP Dr. Nishikant Dubey to stop the Vande Bharat train at Madhupur station."
"If the Vande Bharat train stops at Madhupur, it will be very convenient for the traders of the area. At the same time, the revenue of the railways will also increase," a local named Mayank Gutgutia said.
