Ahead of Kerala Assembly Election, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday hit back at Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, saying he would not engage in a debate over the latter’s governance and that it was for the people of Telangana to judge their government's performance. In a letter, Vijayan also defended the LDF government, asserting that it has consistently reported progress on its manifesto promises over the years.

Revanth Reddy had on April 6 posted on his X platform a six-page letter in a detailed response to Vijayan's earlier post. The Telangana CM signed off the post with "NeePo, Mone Vijayan!" The phrase translates to "You go, Son Vijayan". The orginal dialoguen was spoken by the character of Mohanlal in the 2000 film 'Narasimham'

"At the outset, let me clarify that I am not intending to get into a debate with you on the performance of your Government in Telangana. There are political parties in Telangana, who are to comment on that and ultimately it is for the people of Telangana to assess and pass a judgement on the performance of their Government,”Pinarayi Vijayan’s letter read.

“It is during the course of the election campaign in Keralam that you had made certain remarks on the LDF Government in Keralam. Let me tell you that the LDF Government is continuously reporting the progress made in implementing the promises made in the election manifestoes for the last 10 years,” the letter further mentioned.

Revanth Reddy, in his letter addressed to Pinarayi Vijayan had invited him for a direct, fact-based discussion to clarify differences over governance.

"I read your seven tweets with great interest and respect. However, they contain several misstatements, selective citations and glaring omissions and I owe it to the people of both our States to set the record straight... Since you are a senior leader, I am happy to come to Thiruvananthapuram on April 7 and share our data with you directly and equally, to hear your views in a positive, fact-based discussion. I extend this invitation with genuine respect,” read the Telangana CM’s letter.
